LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Brickman Group Ltd., a growing consolidator in the landscape design/build and horticultural services market, announced June 30 that it has expanded to the West Coast by acquiring two companies serving the greater San Diego, Calif., market. The companies are Brookwood Landscape Inc. and Wrisley Landscape Inc., and they have been merged together to now be known as Brookwood Landscape, a Brickman Group Ltd. Company.
According to the Brickman Group, the California acquisitions were pursued because of Brookwood’s and Wrisley’s strong past performance, established management teams and reputation for quality and high renewal rates.
Three of the five former owners will manage the operation in San Diego. They will be working with Executive Vice President John King who will be monitoring operations and helping coordinate the assimilation into Brickman.
The latest acquisitions give Brickman its first presence in California and are expected to lead to additional growth in the state.
BROOKWOOD LANDSCAPE. Brookwood Landscape Inc. started in 1972 as a small, family-owned landscape construction and maintenance business in San Diego. Today the firm, with its staff of landscape professionals, has become a significant force in the landscape industry serving Southern California. Its business encompasses residential and commercial projects within the public and private sectors. This full-service approach combines skilled construction and maintenance teams with dedicated managers who work together to meet client objectives efficiently and effectively.
WRISLEY LANDSCAPE. Founded in 1977 by Ralph Wrisley, Wrisley Landscape Inc. was a landscape contracting company operating primarily in San Diego. In 1990, two of the company’s senior managers acquired the company from Ralph Wrisley. Originally a landscape construction business, the company began maintenance operations a few years following this transaction. Seeking to accelerate the growth of landscape maintenance, Wrisley Landscape acquired Camino Real Landscape in February of 1998.
