ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Two projects installed by Broccolo Tree & Lawn Care for Environmental, Design and Research, a design and planning firm, were recently recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects.
The RIT Perkins Green Site Improvement project, which added numerous sustainable landscapes and energy efficient features to the RIT campus, won the 2009 NYU Chapter Honor in the category of built design. And the Conkey Corner Park project, the gateway to the El Camino Rail Trail, which is part of $2 million revitalization project for Rochester, received the 2009 NYU Chapter Community Award for Community Achievement.
“Broccolo’s contributions were invaluable to the success of both projects,” said Tom Robinson, RLA LEED AP. “The Broccolo Tree & Lawn Care team went above and beyond actually creating the landscape, but also educating those around the community about the project.”
Both projects took ordinary landscapes and transformed them into sustainable landscapes, the company said, which will reduce the amount of pollutants entering local water ways.
