BALTIMORE – In an effort to help landscape companies find and keep better people, Jenn Buck has expanded her consulting business.
Buck currently works with the Next Level Network, a group of seven landscape companies across the country that share best practices, as a recruiting and hiring adviser.
She travels to top colleges across the country to find promising talent for CoCal Landscape, Denver; Heads Up Landscape, Albuquerque; High Grove Partners, Austell, Ga.; Lambert Landscape Company, Dallas; Mariani Landscape, Lake Bluff, Ill.; Pacific Landscape Management, Hillsboro, Ore.; and Vila & Son, Miami. She is also a member of Lawn & Landscape’s Market Insight Council.
“Many owners and managers say that people are their most important resource, yet most company time and money is spent on external customers,” Buck says.
Buck’s areas of expertise include: recruiting, hiring, interviewing; placement of student interns, recent college grads and full-time, experienced employees; HR administrative tasks (orientation, job descriptions, performance measurement, exit interviews, reference checks); marketing material; creation and monitoring of social media pages/groups; employee development and training; auditing and evaluation of current hiring/interviewing/recruiting practices.
“I want to help smaller companies that are trying to develop their internal systems, mid-range companies who are growing and need to take their systems to the next level and large companies who need a fresh perspective on their existing – and sometimes out-dated – systems,” she says.
