Now there is a Facebook for businesses. Capital One Financial Corp. has launched a social networking Web site where Richmond, Va.-area small businesses owners can exchange ideas and tout their services.
Slingshot http://www.joinslingshot.com was announced Thursday night at The Jefferson Hotel by Todd Kennedy, vice president at Capital One Small Business.
Richmond is the third city where Capital One has rolled out Slingshot in the past three months. The other two cities are Denver and Raleigh, N.C. About 3,200 businesses have registered with Slingshot so far.
Kennedy described Slingshot as an online community and marketplace where small businesses can attract new customers, learn best practices and find strategic partners.
Slingshot will include a consumer portal where customers can look up local businesses and find reviews on their services. Kennedy says Capital One will use its extensive marketing connections with credit-card customers to drive consumers.
