PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Plantscape’s 11th Christmas Decorating Conference attracted 80 interior and exterior landscape firms from the United States, Canada and Europe.
The three-day event included basic and advanced seminars and workshops covering Christmas sales, marketing, design, production and operations. “This was undoubtedly the best one we ever held,” said Plantscape Vice President Carole Horowitz. “It was a tremendous learning experience for us all. People didn’t want to leave.”
New Christmas themes featured in Plantscape’s Christmas tree showroom were brighter this year, with lots of gold, red and floral touches.
Highlights of the seminar were Plantscape’s staged installations. Exterior decorating crew Jim Consoli, Mike Giarrusso and Tim Stancec used high-lifts to demonstrate how to install décor, including light curtains on two and tree story buildings. The crew erected a 26-foot tree as 50 attendees looked on.
Also at the show, Plantscape’s Business Christmas Decorators Council (BCDC) gave away awards for the fifty year in a row.
Best-of-show winners included Behunin Landscape for the Delta Center and Plantscape for PPG Place. Other National BCDC award winners were Whinnery Design, Designs in Foliage, Green Design Landscaping, The Silk Touch, Cunningham’s Landscape and Grundy’s Interior Landscaping.
