Two members of the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) put pressure on the state Legislature to fix California’s broken workers’ compensation system.
Jim Everett of EvLand, Redwood City, Calif., and Dale von Dohre of Landmark Landscapes, San Jose, Calif., participated in a “town hall” meeting on workers’ compensation that state Senator Jackie Speier (D-Hillsborough) organized in San Carlos, Calif.
Everett, who has sent several letters to Speier on this issue in recent weeks, said he left the meeting impressed with the senator’s “levelheaded and even-handed moderation” of the discussions.
Whether CLCA employer members can participate in meetings such as this, write letters and make phone calls during the next few weeks to voice their opinions to representatives in the state Legislature, especially those lawmakers belonging to the Democratic Party.
