Every October, CNLA members come together on a single day to re-landscape a nonprofit facility.
This year, the brand new Middletown Regional Vocational Agriculture Center is the chosen site. The plantings around the school will be a learning experience for the vo-ag high schoolers, who will also help that day, Oct. 2.
This year, the CNLA is asking members for a variety of plants in smaller quantities to give the students many specimens to study and identify both taller and shorter plants. The school will be thrilled with whatever CNLA members can provide. CNLA will recognize donors and volunteers in its magazine and with a certificate for display at their business.
To donate plants, drop them off at the High School, 200 LaRosa Lane, Middletown (860-704-4599 ext. 4060), or call CNLA's Jeremy Maliga (860-882-7348) person25@aol.com and he will pick them up. Volunteers can bring them the morning of Oct. 2. Mulch is also needed for the project.
To volunteer, contact PlantConnecticut Chairman Kevin Sullivan kevin@chestnutnursery.com or the CNLA office ConnNrsry@aol.com. The event begins Oct. 2 between 7:30-8 a.m. and will wrap up early afternoon. Lunch and refreshments will be provided by the parents of the vo-ag students. Bring your tools, please.
