CARSON, Calif – How do you improve the look of one of the most beautiful homes on the Palos Verdes Peninsula?
Harbor City landscaping contractor Mike Forsberg found a way, and was recently honored by the Los Angeles-San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the California Landscape Contractors Association for his project at the Kellogg Family’s Palos Verdes Peninsula home. The winning project is at the home of Janice Kellogg, chairman of the board for Carson-based Kellogg Garden Products.
Forsberg, who has won the award numerous times during his 28-year career, received the recognition at an awards ceremony held on July 31 at the Los Angeles Arboretum during the LA/SGV Beautification Awards and Expo.
Forsberg took home the top judges award for Best Residential Landscaping for his beautification work at the Kellogg residence. Awards were handed out at the Expo in 30 categories including five judges’ awards.
Mrs. Kellogg, said Forsberg’s landscaping project gave her residence, which features a beautiful garden and a spectacular view, a “brand new look” with the strategic addition of new lighting, irrigation, sod, trees and plants.
“One of the judges told me, ‘This is what landscaping should be,’” Mrs. Kellogg says.
Forsberg added that his project was singled out because it was a “quality installation” highlighted by a nice design, unique garden, and expansive lawn with a variety of plants and trees. “I have been fortunate to get high-end jobs like this one through the years,” he says. “This project required excellent landscaping standards above and beyond the installation. I put my best quality work into it.”
Forsberg also said a key component to the project was using Kellogg Garden Products as he does for all of his jobs. “I like the products simply because they work,” he says.
Forsberg is also up for a statewide CLCA award for his Kellogg project later this year.
Kellogg Garden Products has been in business for nearly 80 years and has been involved with CLCA for more than 40 years. Despite its steady growth, Kellogg Garden Products has remained a solid family business that continues to adhere to the core business values of its founder H. Clay Kellogg: integrity, innovation, loyalty, experience, commitment and generosity.
Kellogg Garden Products has expanded from its original base of operations in Los Angeles County to add plants in Ontario, Calif.; Lockeford, Calif. (near Sacramento); and Longview, Wash. The company’s products are now sold in retail stores from Canada to Mexico and from Hawaii to Utah.
