Cousins Properties Signs Snapper to 287,400-Square-Foot Lease at King Mill Distribution Park

ATLANTA (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Cousins Properties announced that it has signed McDonough, Ga.-based Snapper Products to a 287,400-square-foot lease at King Mill Distribution Park's Phase I, a 417,400-square-foot industrial building in Henry County, a southeastern suburb of Atlanta. The lease is the first at King Mill and Cousins' first industrial lease since forming its industrial division in April 2004.

Snapper plans to occupy its space by early summer and its King Mill space will serve as the main distribution center for a nearby Snapper manufacturing facility. Adam Richards and Jim Bob Taylor of Trammell Crow Co. represented Snapper and Bob Currie of Cousins represented the landlord in the transaction.

"After two years of hard work, it's a thrill to sign that first lease at King Mill," said Forrest Robinson, president of Cousins' Industrial Division. "We said from the start that we needed to have this building under construction in order to capitalize on the fast-moving opportunities available in today's market. We couldn't be happier that it was a terrific firm like Snapper that ultimately landed here."

With the majority of the first building leased, Cousins/Weeks has begun work on King Mill's Phase II, a 379,050-square-foot expansion of the Snapper building. Phase II is expected to be complete by fall 2006. In addition to starting Phase II, Cousins/Weeks has also begun preparing King Mill's second development site, which will accommodate a building up to 900,000 square feet.

"It's too early to start construction on the third building but Henry County has a history of attracting massive space requirements and we need to be prepared to start quickly," Robinson said.

King Mill Distribution Park is the first industrial project developed by Cousins/Weeks and is slated for 2.9 million square feet on 182 acres at the intersection of Highway 42/23 at King Mill Road in McDonough. The park has build-to-suit sites available for companies seeking to locate in this rapidly expanding section of Henry County. Earlier this year, Cousins acquired 304 acres in Jackson County, northeast of Atlanta, for Cousins' second industrial park, Jefferson Mill Business Park.
