Smith, a 31-year industry veteran, has served as assistant executive vice president of CPCO of Florida the last four years. Prior to working for CPCO of Florida, Smith was general manager of Al Hoffer's Pest Control.

Smith told PCT he has already contacted Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), university personnel and others to inform them that CPCO of Florida plans on conducting business as usual

“It’s important to stress that nothing has changed,” Smith said. “We have a large association that provides a tremendous amount of support. I intend to see Mel’s vision carried through.”

CPCO of Florida will join forces with the Florida Pest Management Association (FPMA), scientists, state regulators and extension agents to eliminate the “tree termite,” Nasutitermes costalis , from Dania Beach, Fla., in April.

In addition, CPCO of Florida will be unveiling the WDO Inspector Registry program at the 9th Annual CPCO Convention on Wednesday, May 28, at the Wyndham Bonaventure Resort and Spa, Ft. Lauderdale.
