ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI) announces the availability of comprehensive e-commerce information on its Web site. The industry can now access not only current e-commerce Web services standards, but also reports and recommendations for the use of e-commerce within the outdoor power equipment industry.
Web services technology uses the latest Internet advancements for exchanging information directly, faster and more efficiently without human intervention. It takes out the manual effort by programming computers to automatically exchange the information they already had in their files.
The e-commerce section of the OPEI Web site has been rebuilt to provide maximum access to information regarding the Web services work accomplished over the past two years. The Web services supported by industry standards accommodate the submission of warranty claims, product registrations, purchase orders and inventory availability inquiries. Reports and guidelines for use are posted along with the current and earlier versions of the Web service standards.
This section of the OPEI Web site will be the primary access point for all future Web services standards and related e-commerce information as the use of this technology matures. It will serve as a repository for all the latest standards and codes to ensure easy access by manufacturers, distributors, business system developers and their supporting partners.
More information is available at www.opei.org under “OPEI Programs.”
