Cyber-Rain Saves Southwest Users 10 Million Gallons

The smart irrigation controller was recognized as an Innovative New Product at WaterSmart Innovations Conference & Expo.

Cyber-Rain, the innovative smart sprinkler system designed to help consumers save money and protect the environment has already helped the Southwest conserve over ten million gallons of water over the summer. The announcement was made by Diana Schulz, CEO of Cyber-Rain, who will accompany CTO & founder, Reza Pourzia, for the exhibition of the product at the WaterSmart Innovations Conference & Exposition  Oct. 8-10 in Las Vegas.

“We’re honored to have been recognized as an Innovative New Product at the WaterSmart Innovations Conference & Expo and are pleased that Cyber Rain has already saved the Southwest over 10 million gallons by watering lawns smarter,” states Schulz.

Hosted by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA), in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense Program and other leading organizations, the WaterSmart Innovations Conference & Expo will be showcasing a new wave of creativity and innovation in water-efficiency technology.

The Southwest, home to 70 million residents, has one of the driest climates in the world, much of which is a desert ecosystem. While it is home to eleven national forests and three national grasslands, its hot, arid climate continually thrusts the region into severe drought conditions, leaving residents and water officials worried as their water supplies begin to dry up.

The average household consumes 156,000 gallons of water a year, nearly 60 percent of that, over 90,000 gallons, are used for landscape watering. With greater pressure from government agencies to conserve water, and water costs on the rise, technology that helps consumers save more of this precious resource is also on the rise.

“As we enter the winter season, where rainy days are more prevalent, homeowners often continue their summer watering schedule which means they are just washing money down the drain, says Cyber-Rain CTO, Reza Pourzia. "By making smarter, more efficient choices, homeowners can easily save more water and more money all year, while maintaining a healthy, green lawn and protecting the environment.”

Enter Cyber-Rain. The Cyber-Rain XCI easily replaces a homeowner’s current sprinkler controller, giving users a convenient, simple way to save up to 40% off their monthly water bill while preventing run-off which can pollute waterways and streams. The smart controller always knows how much water to dispense since it downloads weather data such as precipitation, temperature and humidity from the Internet daily to adjust how long the sprinklers should run.

With rebates of $60 to $700 offered in most states and water districts across the nation, the Cyber-Rain XCI typically pays for itself in under a year, giving customers an affordable way to save money, help the environment and have a great looking yard.
