It may be one of the largest property heists in Dallas this year. Thieves stole well over $100,000 in lawn care equipment from a Northeast Dallas business owner.
Of course, this isn't the first time someone's had a lawn mower stolen – but in this case some 40 pieces of equipment are gone.
For more than a dozen years, homeowners and businesses have relied on L & M Landscaping for their lawn care needs.
Despite the theft the company had a two-man crew out the next day, cutting the yards of long time customers. The men were using new equipment since the old stuff, truck loads of it, has disappeared.
"My guy called me at 5:30 this morning, said everything was gone," said landscaping owner Todd Daugherty.
Daugherty lost everything. The storage lockers that once held dozens of lawn mowers, leaf blowers and yard edger's, are now empty.
Daugherty also owns a car wash next door to the landscaping business. Surveillance cameras there caught images of suspects loading up four of the company's trucks and trailers… and driving off with everything.
"In the past, ya know, we'd lose a blower or whatever. Ya know, its stuff on a truck," said Daugherty. "But we've never physically had somebody come in and rob our premises, I guess you'd say."
Police have located two trailers and two of the stolen trucks, but the equipment is still missing.
