Davey Acquires Missouri Forestry Firm

Skip Kincaid & Associates, based in St. Louis, will operate as part of the natural resource consulting unit of Davey Resource Group.

The Davey Tree Expert Co. acquired Skip Kincaid & Associates of St. Louis, Mo. Skip Kincaid & Associates provides urban forestry consulting services to private entities and local, state and federal governments. The acquisition will operate as part of the natural resource consulting unit of Davey Resource Group (DRG).

“We’re focusing on growth at the regional level and this acquisition gives us a second base of operations in the region,” said Pat Covey, Davey executive vice president and DRG general manager. “We are happy to have Skip Kincaid & Associates join Davey.  He is quality-focused and has integrity and customer loyalty.” 

According to Kincaid, owner and founder of Skip Kincaid & Associates, joining Davey Resource Group allows for collaboration with an expanded urban forestry consulting team. Kincaid characterized the acquisition as a mutually beneficial one.

“I believe that joining Davey Resource Group is a great way for me to continue what I’m doing in the greater St. Louis area in urban forestry consulting, and also serve as a senior consulting arborist on other Davey projects throughout North America,” he said. 

Skip Kincaid & Associates has a wide range of urban forestry experience including the completion of several tree inventory projects and the preparation of urban forestry management plans, tree preservation plans, municipal ordinances, and county tree preservation standards for road and sidewalk construction.  He has assisted several communities with the creation and guidance of advisory boards and meets regularly with elected officials, municipal staff and volunteers to advance local urban forestry programs.  Among his projects are inventories at the Gateway Arch grounds in St. Louis, Missouri and several colleges and universities including Washington University, St. Louis University and the University of Missouri campuses in St. Louis and Kansas City.  He also completed a tree inventory for the historic 1,300-acre Forest Park in St. Louis, and guided the creation of a non-profit nursery and urban forestry advocacy group.
 
Kincaid received a Bachelor of Science degree in forest management and a Master of Science degree in forest economics and silviculture, both from the University of Missouri in Columbia.  He is an ISA Certified Arborist (MW-0155AM) and an SAF Certified Forester (#1516.)  Kincaid also serves on several committees with the USDA Forest Service, the International Society of Arboriculture and the Society of Municipal Arborists.  He was appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture to serve on the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council and also served terms as Chairman of the Missouri Community Forestry Council.
