The assets of Sun Turf, a regional supplier of professional grounds care equipment and supplies to golf courses, professional and commercial lawn care, prosumers and other turf care providers, have been acquired by Davis Equipment Corp. of Johnston, (Des Moines) Iowa. The acquisition includes inventories of equipment, hand-held power equipment, parts, pesticides, fertilizer and seed.

The new company named Davis Sun Turf will be based on the financially sound and successful business model used by Davis Equipment Corp. for more than 40 years in the distribution of construction equipment, fertilizer/chemical application equipment, agricultural monitoring systems, service parts and accessories for the company’s core markets.

Under the new ownership, Davis Sun Turf will operate in a trade area in the North Central United States, which includes most of North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska, and all of Minnesota, Iowa and western Wisconsin. The company will continue to have sales and service centers in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Des Moines, Omaha, and Sioux Falls.

Davis Sun Turf will represent industry leading brands, including Jacobsen Power Equipment, Husqvarna, The Andersons, Jacklin Seed, Smithco, and associated product lines in the turf, grounds care and golf course industries.

“Nearly all product lines formerly offered by Sun Turf will be available through the new company,” comments Paul Davis, President of Davis Equipment Corp. “We have a passion to provide exceptional customer service. Our goal is to be a total source solution for the growth and maintenance of turf and landscaped grounds. To that end, we are committed to on-site product demonstrations, an unmatched inventory of parts, plus a staff of professional service technicians for all major equipment brands. We will be introducing to our customers a variety of parts and service options as well.”

Within the parts department, Davis Sun Turf will offer “same day” shipping parts delivery for critical down time situations. The parts inventory will include parts and components for equipment represented by Davis Sun Turf and for equipment represented by others as well.

“We are fortunate to have retained the key experienced sales, parts and service team, and all of the employees who share our business passion and philosophy of customer service, and support in making our customers successful and profitable within their business operations.”

Plans call for an open house in the fall of 2004 to enable Davis Sun Turf customers to experience the positive changes in parts inventory, equipment availability and financial stability first hand. More information is available at www.davissunturf.com or by phone at 800/592-9513.
