Deadline Approaching for Florida Association Awards

The deadline is March 1 to nominate someone for the Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association's Industry Awards.

The Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association's Industry Awards program presents an opportunity each year to honor individuals who have helped enhance the association and industry. Nominations will be accepted through March 1 and each award recipient will be honored during FNGLA’s 2009 Annual Convention at the Ginn Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, June 25–27.

FNGLA will accept nominations for the following industry awards:

  • Farm Credit/FNGLA Young Nursery Professional of the Year - An individual 39 years of age or younger anytime during the year prior to presentation at convention who is an FNGLA member. Should have had pronounced success in any business activity within or connected to the nursery industry. Civic activities, FNGLA and other association activities are taken into consideration.
  • FNGLA Outstanding Chapter President - An individual who runs a good meeting, utilizes fellow officers to make the chapter’s projects effective and beneficial to members and displays strong leadership qualities.
  • FNGLA Outstanding Chapter Secretary and/or Treasurer - An individual who is an important cog in chapter organization including meeting notice efforts, good communications with members and good bookkeeping talents. Could be the key to a successful chapter.
  • FNGLA Outstanding Division Members (Allied, Foliage, Floriculture, GardenCenter, Landscape, Woody Ornamental) - An individual who has contributed faithfully to the advancement or improvement of the industry through Division activities or related service.
  • FNGLA Outstanding Educator - An individual who is actively involved with the teaching of horticulture. Award is open to professors, educators or extension agents.
  • FNGLA Friend of the Industry - An individual from outside FNGLA who has contributed to the advancement or improvement of the nursery and landscape industry.
  • FNGLA Hall of Fame - A lifetime achievement award given to an individual who has given unselfishly of his/her time and effort having contributed to the industry through pioneering, teaching, production, legislation, marketing, services or research. Established in 1977 as the Foliage Hall of Fame, this award was expanded in 2001 to include all industry segments with recipients prior to 2001 embraced as pioneers of the FNGLA Hall of Fame.
  • Wendell Butler Award - An individual who is currently a member of FNGLA and has proved faithful and exceptional service to the horticulture industry and FNGLA, not withstanding personal gain. Previous Butler Award winners are not eligible, nor is the incumbent FNGLA President.
