GAITHERSBURG, Md. – The Brickman Group has announced the appointment of Debra Holder as director of industry relations. Holder recently retired from her position as chief executive officer of the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA), having spent 25 years with that organization. During her tenure with ALCA, Holder spearheaded many programs that focused on elevating the professionalism and perception of the landscape industry. Among them were certification for landscape professionals, the OSHA alliance, student career days, and the ALCA Educational Foundation.
Holder's lifetime of contributions to the landscape industry was recognized by Project EverGreen, which awarded her its first Stewardship Award last fall. The award celebrates her contributions to raise industry standards and the overall image of the green industry. Holder also received the 2005 Professional Landcare Network Lifetime Leadership Award for leadership, service and commitment.

In her new role with Brickman, Holder will act as an ambassador, strengthening the company's relationships within the industry and with educational institutions, and will continue to promote the professionalism of the landscape industry.
"I have known and admired Debra for many years and I am delighted that she has chosen to join Brickman," says CEO Scott Brickman. "As a leader in the industry, I believe it is our responsibility to promote professionalism and excellence in everything we do, which will help to elevate the perception of the landscape services industry as a whole. Debra's depth of experience and passion in that area make her a perfect match for Brickman."
"I'm excited for the opportunity to work with Brickman," comments Holder. "Coming from the industry's leading trade association, Brickman is not only one of the largest, but one of the most respected organizations in the industry. I am looking forward to becoming part of the Brickman family."
Trained as an educator, Holder has always been enthusiastic about the contributions industry can make in partnership with educational institutions. Part of her role with Brickman will be to offer guidance and assistance to the landscape education community.
"The landscape industry is on a growth track, but enrollments at horticultural institutions do not reflect this trend," comments Holder. "We need to continually promote the numerous opportunities that are available in the landscape industry, to ensure the green industry has a good supply of trained professionals to support future growth."
