DIG Corporation has been awarded the opportunity to develop a water restrictor device to be issued by Southern Nevada Water Authority. The SNWA restrictor device is a program override for irrigation controllers with existing watering schedules that must comply with watering restrictions provided by the city of Las Vegas.
The device will attach to any irrigation controller and allow it to be operated within limitations that include overriding irrigation zone schedules according to a specific time of day and day(s) of the week. Drip systems may operate as needed or as scheduled by the controller by means of a bypass.
DIG Corp. was one of six manufacturers selected to design and build a prototype for submission to the SNWA. All prototypes were submitted by May 2008 and are planned to be installed by a test group of homeowners this September.
The restriction devices will stay installed for a period of one year, during which frequent reports will be given regarding multiple factors including overall performance, ease of installation and aesthetics. Upon conclusion of the one-year test period, the SNWA will take the reported data and make their decision as to which device to use and begin full manufacturing for distribution.
