Dow President Announces Retirement

A. Charles Fischer is retiring as president and CEO of Dow AgroSciences.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A. Charles Fischer, president and chief executive officer, of Dow AgroSciences LLC, has announced plans to retire – effective Feb. 1, 2004. Jerome Peribere, vice president of agricultural chemicals, has been named Fischer’s successor.

“Charlie has led the agricultural business through years of rapid industry change, and we are proud of the accomplishments of Dow AgroSciences,” recalled J. Pedro Reinhard, executive vice president and chief financial officer. “We continue to expect great things from our agricultural business as we work to enhance shareholder value, and know that Jerome has the global experience, leadership ability and business acumen to continue to deliver success.”

Fischer, who has served as president and CEO of Dow AgroSciences since March 1999, boasts 37 years of service with The Dow Chemical Company. Following his retirement, he will become chairman of the Dow AgroSciences Members Committee, which is the executive board overseeing policy and investment for Dow AgroSciences.

Peribere’s nearly 27-year career with The Dow Chemical Company has spanned sales, management and strategic roles around the globe. He joined the company in 1977 as a sales representative in France for specialty chemicals and has recently been serving as vice president – since 1998.
