Echo, Inc. donated a large-scale woodcarving to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri.

Carved on-site at the Green Industry Expo by wood sculptor Conrad Sandoval, the solid Catalpa representation of a Native American wearing an eagle headdress is being auctioned to raise funds to support the organization’s charitable ventures in the area.

“We are very excited about this opportunity,” said Melissa Bode, vice president of development for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri. “One-hundred percent of the proceeds from this auction will go to the children. The money will be used to match the children on our waiting list with Big Brothers and Big Sisters in the Eastern Missouri area.”

The manufacturer of handheld outdoor power equipment sponsored Sandoval who used Echo chainsaws to create the sculpture – measuring approximately five feet tall, two feet wide and weighing more than 200 pounds. The finished work is valued at a minimum of $1,000. The piece was carved as part of the GIE Product Field Day and will be auctioned online via the eBay web-site www.ebay.com, starting Nov. 17.

Based in the Pacific Northwest, Sandoval, is a world-renowned wood sculptor who has won a number of national and international woodcarving competitions.
