Echo Expansion Result Of Continued Success

Echo Inc. recently opened its new 160,000 square-foot office and distribution facility in Lake Zurich, Ill.

LAKE ZURICH, Ill. - Echo Inc., a manufacturer of two-stroke engines and marketer and manufacturer of lawn and garden equipment, recently opened its new 160,000 square-foot office and distribution facility in Lake Zurich, Ill.

The original Echo facility in Lake Zurich was established in 1985. Since that time the company has expanded twice to accommodate sales growth, once in 1988 and again in 1995.

The addition of the new structure expands the total combined space in Lake Zurich to more than 400,000 square feet. This third expansion of Echo facilities reflects the company’s growth and continued expansion of its product lines in both the commercial and homeowner landscaping markets.

"The demand for Echo products both domestically and now internationally continues to be strong," said Joe Rund, vice president of sales and marketing for Echo. "Echo’s manufacturing efficiencies and warehouse capabilities will be enhanced with this substantial addition.

Echo cited several keys for its continued success, including:

  • Strong and loyal distribution channels;
  • A complete line of two-stroke, hand-held products; and
  • Echo’s service schools for dealer education.

Since the introduction of hand-held power equipment in 1969, Echo said it has been a leading manufacturer of gasoline-powered blowers. In fact, Echo introduced the first dedicated backpack blower and the first hand-held power blower in the United States, according to the company.

Echo said its blowers and other products meet and exceed the expectations of new federal and state emissions standards, showing the company’s commitment to developing environmentally friendly products.

To further serve the professional landscaping market, Echo holds annual landscaper and dealer meetings in Lake Zurich. Those meetings provide the company with valuable feedback and offer the opportunity to discuss potential new applications for its products.
