Hal Struckman of Eco Mulch and Sod in Shreveport will receive the 2006 Louisiana Small Business Person of the Year Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce nominated Struckman for the SBA award, which recognizes the dedication, hard work, perseverance and success of a Louisiana small business owner and operator.
Struckman is responsible for providing strategic direction for a 2,500-acre family sod farm, a rapidly-growing landscape business and a newly launched recycling operation. Since establishing the company in 1997 with his wife Debbie, Eco Mulch has become one of the fastest growing landscape companies in the Ark.-La.-Tex. area. In the last 3 years, Eco Mulch has grown from five to 19 employees.
An award presentation and congratulatory ceremony is scheduled for April 18 at the Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge. For more information on this SBA program contact Public Information Officer Loretta Poree at (504) 589-2853, loretta.poree@sba.gov.
