Native plants collection expanded

Emerald Coast Growers expands Native Wonders North American native plants collection

Four new ornamental grass varieties have been added to the Native Wonders North American native plants program from Emerald Coast Growers. Each selection is based on easy-to-grow features, vibrant fall colors and interesting habits. The newest varieties include: Andropogon glomeratus, which has green leaves that turn copper-orange in fall and retain color well into winter; Bouteloua curtipendula, noted for its distinctive arrangement of oat-like seed spikes suspended from one side of the stem; Carex pensylvanica features soft, curling pale green foliage that turns light brown for winter and Sporobolus heterolepis, a fine-textured grass with delicately fragrant blooms.

The Native Wonders program now features 28 varieties of ornamental grasses and perennials available in sizes from the jumbo 21 landscaping plug to the economical 128-cell tray.
