It’s no secret that the housing market is hot right now. And one Maryland-based lawn care company is focusing his marketing efforts on new homeowners.
Jesse Smith, owner of Royal Greens Professional Lawn Care, says his strategy for the upcoming lawn care season is to be the first one into newly developed neighborhoods.
“We’re in an area that’s going through a pretty significant building boom,” he says. “There’s a lot of new homes and a lot of new homeowners wanting to keep the grass installed looking good — or looking to improve it.
“We’ve definitely tried to focus on going after these newer neighborhoods,” Smith adds. “That’s been one part of our marketing strategy.”
Smith says his team has been getting into these communities as soon as possible.
“This winter, we spent a lot of time going into these neighborhoods and getting addresses to get a rough idea on sizing so we can do some block pricing,” he says. “This will get us into these neighborhoods earlier. We’re trying to be a little more proactive in these newer neighborhoods.”
One creative way Royal Greens has been doing this is trying to build relationships with companies building the homes.
“We’ve reached out to some of the builders to see if we can get in with them,” Smith says. “Sometimes they make a little list of community people and businesses for the homeowners. So, if you need a plumber, here’s a plumber…here’s a good pizza place — and hopefully, here’s a good lawn care company, too.”
But it’s not just about getting the company’s name out in front of those new potential clients, Smith says it’s vital to get them important information right off the bat.
“We really try to not only get in front of customers but give them some information and some pricing right away,” he says.
