EXPO 2003 Offers Extras

Attendees of this year’s EXPO can add entertainment to the event by registering for a variety of tours in the Louisville area.

The International Lawn, Garden & Power Equipment Expo will be a mix of business and pleasure this year as attendees have the opportunity to experience Louisville, Ky.

The city and its surrounding areas offer a variety of attractions and events. And several sightseeing tours have been planned in conjunction with EXPO 2003, scheduled Oct. 18-20:

Saturday, Oct. 18:
A Day of Racing at Keeneland
Located in Lexington, Keeneland is a picturesque track where many horses race and train for the Breeders Cup. This day in bluegrass country includes coach transportation, a professional tour guide and reserved seats at the course. Tickets are $33.

Hidden Hill Nursery and Turtle Run Winery
Hidden Hill offers a unique collection of garden art and rare plants in a natural setting. Bob Hill, a Courier-Journal feature writer and author, will host for this tour. Participants will tour Turtle Run, southern Indiana’s newest winery. Tickets are $32.

Sunday, Oct. 19:
Kentucky Craft Tour
This tour begins in Berea, home of Berea College. Churchill Weaver, the Appalachian Arts and Crafts Quilt Shop, the Appalachian Fireside Gallery, Berea College Student Craft Industries, the Chestnut Street Gallery and Master Craftsman Warren A. May’s woodworking shop. A buffet will be served at Boone Tavern restaurant. Tickets are $43.

Star of Louisville Luncheon Cruise
Enjoy unlimited fine buffet dining aboard this nautical addition to Louisville’s waterfront renaissance. The Star boasts two fully enclosed temperature-controlled dining decks and one outdoor observation deck. Tickets are $38.50.

Monday, Oct. 20:
Glassworks and Downtown Tour
At Glassworks, participants will watch the resident artists, glass blowers, flame workers, cutters and designers create magnificent pieces of art. The Glassworks gallery offers an extensive selection of glass objects including paperweights, jewelry and goblets. The tour will include an overview of downtown Louisville. Tickets are $26.

In addition to the listed tours, EXPO is offering discount tickets to the October “Fright Fest” at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.
