The Florida State Fairgrounds will host the GIE Product Field Day, Nov. 11, from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The facility will provide ample turf space for operating equipment, including mowers, aerators, site prep equipment, trenchers, augers and excavators. Conference attendees will be treated to a Tampa Bay Barbecue and an afternoon of outdoor demonstrations. The site is about a 10 to 15 minute ride from the Tampa Convention Center, and shuttle service will be provided from the convention center and from the sponsoring association headquarter hotels to the Product Field Day site. The 2000 Product Field Day was made up of 92 companies and more than 2,500 attendees. |
TAMPA, Fla. - Anticipation is mounting for the upcoming Green Industry Expo (GIE), Nov. 10 to 13, 2001, at the Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Fla. GIE organizers have announced that Peter Schutz, former president and CEO of Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany, will present the keynote address at the GIE general session on Nov. 13.
Schutz was president and CEO of Porsche from 1981 to 1988. He joined the company in its first money-losing year, and during his tenure, revenues grew more than 400 percent. Schutz’s keynote session, titled "Dealing with Risk," will guide GIE attendees through various management techniques essential for a company to stay competitive during times of change and improve the ability of organizations to deal with hardships while retaining their most productive employees.
GIE is a national expo for lawn, landscape and grounds professionals. The event includes conferences presented by the three association sponsors listed below, a trade show, a product field day (see sidebar above right) and many special events and motivational speakers. More than 3,600 attendees are expected to attend.
