"There has always been a lot of local competition between neighbors about who has the best looking yard," said Lars Hundley, the creator of the site. "I thought, 'Wouldn't it be cool to expand that idea to the World Wide Web?'"
Visitors to the site can browse photos and click on a button to rate each photo on a scale of one to 10, and then the average results for the rated photo appear.
To post a photo, contractors or their clients must register with the site, upload a digital photo and then wait to see what visitors think. Currently, there is no charge for this service.
"Most of the photos are truly impressive,” Hundley said.
