San Rafael, Calif.-based Gardeners’ Guild was honored by the California Interior Plantscape Association (CIPA), with the organization’s “Award of Excellence” for an interior installation in the category of projects $50,001 to $100,000.

The project for which Gardeners’ Guild won the award is the Serramonte Shopping Center renovation, which was designed by the landscape architecture firm of Smith & Smith. This is the largest interior installation that Gardeners’ Guild has performed, incorporating more than 1,200 plants in 137 containers and in two in-ground planting areas. All work on the project was completed at night between 10 p.m. and 9 a.m., as the mall was open for business during the renovation.

This award completes the “Triple Crown” for Gardeners’ Guild – the only landscape contractor in Northern California to have won major awards in the categories of exterior maintenance and construction,  in addition to interior work during 2004. Interior landscape installation and maintenance comprises 15 percent of the company’s business. Another 15 percent is focused on exterior landscape construction, while the remaining 70 percent is exterior landscape maintenance.

In business since 1972, Gardener’s Guild is a 100-percent employee-owned landscape contractor and recently was named one of the “50 Best Places to Work in the Bay Area” by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
