Georgia Green Industry Association Encouraging Growth

The second largest agriculture commodity industry in Georgia, landscaping and horticulture, is organizing.

The Georgia Green Industry Association held a conference at Albany (Ga.) Technical College Thursday, inviting all horticultural industry professionals.

From turf and nursery businesses to landscape contractors, the Georgia Green Industry Association reports a value index of more than $8 billion dollars, second only to poultry in Georgia agriculture impact.

Helping the state's economy and environment, Georgia Green Industry Association Executive Director Sherry Loudermilk said,  "Landscaping actually saves water rather than using it by actually keeping water in the watershed. It's been very interesting as we have gone through the last couple of years in drought to learn all of these things."

Loudermilk says the Georgia Green Industry Association hopes to set up nine chapters across the state in the next two years, organizing landscape professionals.
