GIE 2002: Textron Gives You Credit

Contractors buying from Textron dealers can just say, ‘Charge it!’

Paying for equipment is never fun, but Textron Golf, Turf & Specialty Products is out to make this process easier for landscape contractors. The company announced that contractors buying equipment at Textron dealers will be able to charge their purchases on a new Textron credit card, provided by Conseco.

“Contractors will be able to use the credit card to pay for equipment, parts, service and even extended warranties,” explained Joe Zvanut, the company’s advertising and promotions specialist. “They can buy any equipment so long as it’s bought at a Textron dealership. Plus, there’s no annual fee for using the card, and there’s no pre-payment penalty either.”

Zvanut said Textron is introducing the card to help contractors with a common challenge. “The credit card will help our customers free up their cash and manage their cash flow,” he noted, adding that financing will be available up to $50,000 in some cases. “Plus, now they’ll be able to purchase the equipment when they need it without having to fill out a lot of paperwork or come back later once they find out if they get financing approval.”

Contractors can apply for the card by visiting a Textron dealer in the next few months, and they’ll know within 30 minutes of applying if they’re approved. At this point, Textron is introducing the card to its more than 1,200 dealers and getting them prepared to handle this new program.

"Part of the beauty of this card is that our customers can enroll in the program at any time and then pass the card along to their employees so they can purchase supplies they need while they're out in the field or whenever they're at a Textron dealer," added Tom Meier. "We want our customers to be able to have instant credit, and then our dealers hope that these contractors will be more likely to buy our products."
