The Associated Landscape Contractors of America gathered Thursday evening, Nov. 6, to recognize its safety award recipients.
“It’s been a record year for the safety contest,” said David Snodgrass, Dennis’ 7 Dees Landscaping, Portland, Ore. “Entries increased by 20 percent over last year, which was also a record year,” Snodgrass added.
Just entering the awards is an accomplishment. “It sends a message to your company that you are serious about safety and it brings attention to your safety and safety record,” Snodgrass said.
The program was sponsored by CNA, which has been ALCA’s insurance partner for two decades. “Safety is so important because it is about if someone came to work today with two hands, there going to go home and hug their children with those two hands,” said Joel Appelbaum, vice president of construction, CNA.
Following the presentation of the ALCA/CNA Safety Awards, attendees turned their attention to roundtable discussions covering some of the industry’s most important issues — from establishing business values to team building.
