When it comes to their ponds, clients want to have clear water at all times and they want their fish to live long and happy lives.
“It’s true – once you save the lives your client’s fish, you are a hero to that customer,” explains Sean Murray, Little Giant’s national sales manager.

In fact, according to Little Giant Pump Co., Oklahoma City, Okla., Do-It-Yourselfers are ready to stop toying around with inexperienced pond building and actually invest more money in having professional contractors build them water features that can sustain the test of time.
In order to meet these growing consumer needs, Little Giant launched the WaterMarkTM line of products and presented them for the first time to landscape contractors at the Green Industry Expo in Orlando, Fla., according to Paul Henderson, Little Giant’s vice president of sales and marketing.
The new line-up features vortex pumps, pond skimmers, biological waterfall filtration units with BioVortTM technology, programmable LED lighting and a complete line of fish food, water treatment and pond cleaning products.
“Our goal was to create products and services that show quality and clarity of water above all else,” Murray explains. “And we don’t want to be a short line supplier – we want to have everything contractors need in this category, which is why we are offering bigger gallon options up to 10,000 gallons, as well as small gallon options from 1,000 to 5,000 gallons.”
According to Henderson, Little Giant “was almost like a sleeping giant,” he says. That was before the company was acquired by Tecumseh Products in 1980, going from a $100-million company to an organization supported by the $2.1-billion Tecumseh. “So, we started to take a long, hard look at our business, asking the question, ‘What do we want to be when we grow up?’ From there, we identified the water feature market and realized the customer was changing – they are now ready to invest more in water features. And contractors who are building these ponds want to find a supplier partner who can help them maintain these ponds and keep them pristine. The result is the WaterMark brand.”
