CLEVELAND — GIE Media Inc., the parent company of the Lawn & Landscape Media Group, was recently recognized for its contributions to Harvest for Hunger, a regional food and fund drive which helps to feed the hungry in Northeast Ohio.
GIE Media was honored as a Gold Award achiever, a level reached by companies donating between 51-90 pounds of food per person. In total, GIE Media raised more than $3,600 during this month-long campaign.
GIE Media’s contributions helped Harvest for Hunger organizers raise 5 million pounds of food, exceeding its 4.7 million-pound goal by five percent.
Cleveland Mayor Jane Campbell praised companies such as GIE Media Inc. for their generosity, especially while the country is in the midst of an economic downturn.
"On March 27, I stood before you and told you that Harvest for Hunger was way behind where we needed to be in meeting the goal to raise 4.7 million pounds of food. At that time, we needed to raise more than $135,000 dollars to meet that goal," Campbell said at a special ceremony on Tuesday, July 23. "I am pleased to stand before you today to report that not only did we meet that goal, but we exceeded it by 300,000 pounds.”
Harvest for Hunger raises food and funds in partnership with more than 600 organizations, from schools to private companies.
