Peoria, Ill.-based Green View Cos., an expert in plants and landscaping, hosted a national Excelling in Creative Garden Concepts (ECGC) Landscape Operations meeting Aug. 5-6. More than 20 attendees participated from various companies nationwide. Companies included English Gardens from Michigan, Homestead Gardens from Maryland, Ireland Gannon from New York, McDonald Garden Centers from Virginia and Pike Nurseries from Georgia.
The meeting served as a learning opportunity and allowed companies to share practices within the industry. Topics included operational procedures from design to installation and maintenance, marketing practices and challenges the industry is facing. Green View led tours of their landscape operation as well as various job sites.
"With the current business climate, many companies are looking to cut back on aspects of their business that may not have an immediate benefit," said Michael Ireland, co-president of Ireland Gannon, Long Island, N.Y. "This meeting provided our staff and our companies with information that have had an immediate benefit to our services and profitability. It has also reinforced that in these times of business uncertainty, it is the power of ECGC that keeps you sharp and on top of the game so that when the climate changes you are ahead of the pack and not trying to catch up,"
ECGC Distributors is a limited liability company of the largest independent garden companies in the United States. For more information, visit www.ecgc.com.
