Like landscape contractors, most nursery growers are small, independent
businesses. But Skinner Nurseries isn't like most nursery companies. Opening a facility in Conway, S.C., (near Myrtle Beach) in August means the company has eight facilities throughout the Southeast, and plans are in place for additional distribution centers to open in the coming months.
"Our goal is to serve landscape contractors in the Sun Belt with a reliable,
one-stop source for green goods," explained Andy Etters, marketing manager.
"Our next opening will be in Freeport, Fla., which will serve the panhandle
of Florida. The site is currently under construction and should be open for
business by November of this year. We have also purchased 50 acres in
Austin, Texas, for a distribution center to open early next year.
Right now, Skinner Nurseries has its eight facilities in three states:
Palm Beach, Fla.
Orlando, Fla.
Green Cove Springs, Fla.
Jacksonville, Fla.
Hilton Head, S.C.
Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Dallas, Texas
Houston, Texas
