GTFT Announces Funding for Research Grants

The Georgia Turfgrass Foundation Trust announces funding for a variety of industry research grants.

The Georgia Turfgrass Foundation Trust (GTFT) recently announced funding for eight turfgrass research projects with the overall goal of improving the turfgrass industry.  Through contributions from sister organizations, industry companies and GTFT fundraisers, more than $25,000 was used to fund these research projects.

The following projects were granted:

Zoysiagrass Cultivar Performance - Dr. Clint Waltz - $2,100
St. Augustinegrass Cultivar Evaluation in Various Regions of Georgia - Dr. Clint Waltz -$2,850
Turf Type Tall Fescue Cultivar Evaluation Under Minimal Irrigation Regimes - Dr. Clint Waltz -$2,100
Bermudagrass Cultivar Evaluation - Dr. Clint Waltz - $2,850
Centipedegrass Decline Resulting from Mismanagement: Mowing and Fertilization Interactions - Dr. Clint Waltz, Dr. Wayne Hanna and Dr. Gil Landry  - $2,000
Webpage Development: TurfgrassWater.com - Dr. Clint Waltz and Dr. Bob Carrow - $4,000
Coastal Plain Experiment Station - Dr. Wayne Hanna - $7,500
Determining Field Germination and Establishment Characteristics of Seeded Seashore Paspalum - Dr. Bob Carrow, Dr. R.R. Duncan and Joe Purser - $2,000

Major contributions were given to GTFT by the following industry associations: Georgia State Golf Association, Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association, MALTA and Georgia Sod Producers Association.

GTFT is the educational committee of the Georgia Turfgrass Association (GTA).
