LITTLESTOWN, Pa. – Hadco has announced the addition of Mel Kern as a dedicated, full-time customer support resource to serve the company’s growing market in central and southern Florida. In his new position as an area sales specialist, Kern will assist landscape distributors and landscape architects in fulfilling their lighting needs.
Kern has been associated with Hadco for 17 years in various sales capacities and has more than two decades of experience in both interior and exterior lighting sales. Prior to accepting his new position, Kern was a factory representative for a number of Genlyte Co. brands, including Hadco. In addition, he has been an independent representative for Hadco and Lightolier, also part of the Genlyte line.
Lew Waltz, the manufacturer’s Vice President of Landscape Lighting, said, “To enhance our responsiveness to customers and distributors, Hadco is committing additional resources in the busy Florida landscape lighting market,” says Lee Waltz, Hadco’s vice president of landscape lighting. “Mel’s deep knowledge of Hadco products and his strong commitment to customer service made him the obvious choice for the job.”
In 2001, Kern was named to the President’s Club at Hadco, a designation awarded to members of the sales force who have demonstrated outstanding results. He also has served on the Hadco Landscape Council, which meets periodically to review and evaluate the company's new landscape lighting products.
A native of New York City, Kern holds a degree in merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology. He and his family reside in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
