Hardscape North America Offers Skills Training

The new outside demonstration at the show, Jan. 14-17 in Atlanta, builds participants’ practical knowledge.

What do hardscape pros do for fun at a conference and trade show? They practice working! (Go figure.) With all of the indoor and outdoor demonstrations during Hardscape North America (HNA)—Jan. 14-17, 2009 in Atlanta, Ga.—installers and other specialists will get up close and personal with a variety of live project simulations.

New to HNA in the outdoor pavilion is a demonstration focusing on concrete masonry wall construction. Come see how to build a durable wall that looks great! This demonstration will feature grouted, double-wythe, 25 feet long x 16 inches tall wall, built from 8-inch light-weight concrete masonry units (CMU) and an 8-inch lintel cap. The wall will feature a cast-stone veneer, replicating stacked stone, with a smooth 24-inch-wide bull-nose cast-stone coping in 2-foot sections. The wall will also include horizontal metal wall reinforcement, veneer ties, and grouted wall cavities.

Demonstrations returning from last year include: Installation of permeable interlocking concrete pavements; low voltage lighting; paver installation; step construction; outdoor kitchen construction; and raised patio construction.
