ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Twenty New Mexico commercial building contractors will be recognized this Thursday at noon at the Sheraton Old Town Inn for their 2003 safety records. The New Mexico Building Branch, Associated General Contractors (AGC), will honor its commercial building contractor members as part of a national AGC program.
The awards will be presented in two categories -- zero incidence of lost work days and firms whose accident incidences ranked 25 percent below the national average incidence rate.
Brian Holton of the Occupational Safety and Health Bureau, New Mexico Environment Department, will present the awards, and Dr. Craig Urbanski, manager of the city of Albuquerque's Health and Safety Program, will give the keynote address. Urbanski will speak on "How to motivate workers toward safety."
AGC member firms receiving awards for zero incidence will be: American National Insulation & Sealants; B & D Electric Co. Inc., Baker Construction Co. Inc., Big J Enterprises LLC, Gamblin Rodgers Electrical Contractor, Gardner Zemke Company, Heads Up Landscape Contractor; Richardson and Richardson Inc.; Star Construction Inc., C.H. Taylor Company and Western States Fire Protection, all of Albuquerque; and Building Trades Specialists Inc. of Belen, Franken Construction Co. Inc. of Las Vegas, N.M.; and the New Mexico office of Concrete Frame Associates Inc. of Denver, Colo.
Receiving awards in the second category will be AUI Inc., J.B. Henderson Construction Co. Inc., Jaynes Corporation, Gerald Martin General Contractor, Miller Bonded Inc., and Yearout Mechanical and Engineering, all of Albuquerque.
