Hines Horticulture's Halo Hydrangeas are soon to make another appearance on newsstands this spring. Garden Design magazine recently selected Angel Song, an electrifying purple hydrangea and one of seven in the Halo Hydrangea series, as part of the exclusive “Way Hot 100” plant issue, scheduled to reach newsstands in April.
The hugely popular “Way Hot 100” issue is published annually, and is a compilation of the season’s top must-have plants, which are hand-picked by editors at Garden Design magazine.
“With Garden Design magazine as one of the most influential gardening publications in the country, we are expecting heightened consumer awareness and demand for the Halo collection,” said Paul Winski, New Products Development Manager of Hines Horticulture.
This is not the first time the Halo Hydrangeas have made an appearance in the public spotlight. “Last August, we were very excited when we saw Angel Song featured in a cut flower arrangement in Better Homes and Gardens,” said Katie Bromm, associate brand manager at Hines Horticulture. “There was no mention of what the stunning flower was in the August issue but Better Homes informed us that so many gardeners inquired about the picture that they reran the image in their October issue with more information. It’s almost unheard of to have the same flower appear twice in one magazine.”
The Halo Hydrangea™ collection includes seven stunning, picotee and bi-colored flower combinations in a range of bold colors from blue and grape to fuchsia and maroon, all blooming from spring through fall.
“With its electrifying purple blooms, Angel Song stands out in the garden,“ Winski says. “But it’s the ‘halo affect,’ created by the white margin that outlines the edge of each blossom that makes this mophead variety so unique.”
The Halo collection thrives in partial shade, and was extensively tested in garden settings across the country to ensure superior performance in gardens zones 6 to 9. As with all hydrangeas, Halo Hydrangeas™ need ample moisture.
