HMI’s ‘Premier Nursery Network’ Continues Growth; Organization Names Erbaugh Strategic Adviser

Membership has grown to 100 nurseries in just six months.

Horticultural Asset Management, Inc. (HMI) announced recently that it has added more than 100 of the country’s premier nurseries to its network in just over six months. This “Premier Nursery Network” (PNN) was established by HMI in July with 24 original nursery company members charged with helping HMI hone its product offerings.

"We have been absolutely thrilled with the response to our network,” says HMI’s Vice President of Corporate Development Margie Boccieri. “I think it speaks volumes about the participants in the green industry and their interest in promoting programs that will benefit everyone in the industry. It has been a real pleasure working with these nurseries and I’m certain they will all benefit from their affiliation and effort.”

HMI ADDS MARTY ERBAUGH AS A STRATEGIC ADVISER

    J. Martin Erbaugh, chairman of LESCO and senior adviser to The Davey Tree Expert Co., has added another organization to his credentials. Erbaugh has joined Horticultural Asset Management (HMI) as a strategic adviser. HMI offers the green industry its patented Horticultural Scientific Standard (HS2), which determines the current through 10-year valuations of woody trees and shrubs in a landscape.

“I’ve spent more than 30 years in the green industry and HMI has developed what may be the most innovative product for the industry that I’ve ever seen,” Erbaugh says. “What I like most about the product is its ability to positive impact many facets of the industry. It could literally increase green industry revenues across the board. I’m very excited to be part of HMI’s success.”

HMI also is pleased to welcome Erbaugh to the organization. “Marty has been a leader and innovator in the green industry,” says HMI Chairman and CEO Tom Hendrickson. “His experience and understanding of what it takes for a new product to succeed will be invaluable to HMI. His advice will be very instrumental in the development and execution of HMI’s sales, operating and strategic initiatives.”

These select nurseries are working with HMI on its revolutionary new product, the HMI Horticultural Assessment. The HMI Assessment provides property owners with average replacement values on the woody trees and shrubs on their property. This information will establish for the first time the growing value of plant material and is being used to launch replacement value insurance, warranties, and other financial services on plant material. PNN members provide HMI with current wholesale pricing which is used in part to construct the replacement values. They also work together with HMI on trends in the industry and on exploring market factors that may impact wholesale pricing, such as new plant introductions.
