Honeywell Develops New Line of Turf Fertilizers

The company upgraded it’s Hopewell, Va. plant to accommodate the new Sulf-N PRO line

HOPEWELL, Va. –Honeywell has developed a line of ammonium sulfate (21-0-0-24S) fertilizers for turf, including golf courses, athletic fields, and lawns. The fertilizer line is marketed under the trade name Sulf-N® PRO, with four grades currently available:  Granular, mini, micro, and soluble.

“Ammonium sulfate offers agronomic benefits that are uniquely suited to turf,” says Kenneth Kunz, global marketing manager with Honeywell. “The Sulf-N PRO line of products puts these agronomic benefits into fertilizer formulations that have been specifically designed for turf care professionals.”

Sulf-N PRO granular, mini, and micro grades are free-flowing, low in dust, highly uniform and compatible with other turf fertilizers. Sulf-N PRO soluble dissolves quickly into a true solution that can be sprayed directly or injected through irrigation systems.

Honeywell recently completed a multi-million dollar capital upgrade at its Hopewell, Virginia plant to produce the Sulf-N PRO line of ammonium sulfate fertilizers. “The upgrade allows us to meet the high quality specifications needed for turf applications,” says Kunz. “It’s virtually a ‘made-to-order’ system that allows us to minimize product handling and maximize product integrity.”

Kunz says the upgrade will also allow for development of additional Sulf-N PRO ammonium sulfate products, including slow release formulations. In university testing, ammonium sulfate has scored high points for nitrogen efficiency and sulfur availability.  A number of turf experts also recommend ammonium sulfate for suppression of soil-borne diseases, including summer patch, take-all patch, and spring dead spot.
