Horticulture Professionals Gear Up for Mid-Am 2009

Show to take place Jan. 14 to 16 in Chicago.

Horticulture industry professionals interested in learning new concepts, developing business relationships, investigating new product lines and maintaining established contacts in a world-class city are encouraged to attend the premier horticultural trade show, Mid-Am. The 2009 Mid-Am Trade Show is scheduled for Jan. 14 to Jan. 16, 2009 at the new McCormick Place West Building in Chicago.

“As a Chicago resident, Mid-Am could not pick a better location for a horticultural tradeshow. Almost every neighborhood combines elements of both urban and rural design that masterfully merge city and country living. Plants, trees, flowers, parks and gardens provide a backdrop that inspires the green industry while pleasing locals and visitors alike,” said Scott Grams, Executive Director of Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA) and ex-officio member of the Mid-Am board.

For the 2009 show, Mid-Am is moving to the new McCormick West Building.  Changing the venue will provide new opportunities for buyers and sellers alike.  “The move to McCormick Place West gives us the space we need to continue growing the show while retaining our traditional dates, maintaining the basic nature of the show and staying in the popular downtown Chicago location,” said Mid-Am Managing Director, Rand A. Baldwin, CAE.  “The new facility offers more flexibility, improved efficiency, and superior versatility, all key qualities to have for any trade show.”

Located along the shore of Lake Michigan, McCormick Place West features a state-of-the-art complex which houses a 470,000 square foot exhibit hall and more than 60 meeting rooms.

In addition to being one of the top industry trade shows in the Midwest, Mid-Am also offers educational opportunities including the Innovation Showcase which features items for the green industry, daily educational demonstrations and the Midwinter Conference, which includes top industry and business speakers providing insights into the latest trends and best business practices.

Buyers who attend Mid-Am will also have the opportunity to explore the award-winning city of Chicago.  In 2007, Chicago ranked No. 1 among Top 25 cities for a "Business/Meeting Trip That's Also Fun" in the CNN Headline News, Travel + Leisure and CNN.com America's Favorite Cities poll, and Chicago ranked No. 3 among Top 10 cities in the U.S. and Canada by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine for its 2007 World's Best Award.
