HOUSTON – As football fanatics await the energy and rivalry sure to accompany Super Bowl XXXVIII, a team of landscape professionals is anticipating the world-famous athletic showdown as well.
Houston Landscapes Unlimited is sprucing up the grounds around Reliant Stadium – where two professional football teams will face off Feb. 1. The 20-year-old company, based in Sugar Land, Texas, offers beautification services along with installation, landscape management and irrigation services.
Houston Landscapes Unlimited crews have overseeded the turf surrounding the stadium with rye grass in an attempt to quickly return the lawn to a dark green color. The company also will be planting new trees, new shrubs and new flowers, and installing a new irrigation system at each of the three main entryways to Reliant Park.
“We’re proud and humbled to be doing work that will be seen by hundreds of millions of people around the world,” observes Dean Carpenter, founder and president of Houston Landscapes Unlimited. “I can’t imagine a more important landscape project. We will do super work that will make all Houstonians proud.”
The company, which installed the original landscaping and irrigation around Reliant Stadium and has the park’s ongoing landscape maintenance contract, also has agreed to donate 5,000 red, white and blue flowers for the pre-Super Bowl beautification effort.
“We selected Houston Landscapes Unlimited because of their passion and outstanding track record,” notes Mike Surface, chairman of Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation, the company that selected Houston Landscape Unlimited for the beautification project. “With the expertise of Houston Landscapes Unlimited, visitors arriving at Reliant Stadium or viewing the stadium on television, will see Houston at its best.”
