Hunter Industries has been recognized for its latest developments – two innovative battery-operated irrigation controllers.
The California-based manufacturer received the Irrigation Association’s Exhibitor New Product Award at the 23rd Annual International Irrigation Show and Conference in New Orleans. Richard E. Hunter, chief executive officer of the company that creates irrigation equipment, accepted the award.
Hunter’s new battery-powered irrigation controllers – the single-station Smart Valve Controller (SVC) and multi-station Wireless Valve Controller (WVC) – were recognized by the Irrigation Association for their inventive design and adaptable applications. Both valves offer irrigation valve control for sites without access to electrical power. They are designed for use in landscape irrigation, greenhouse, nursery and agricultural operations.
The significance of the battery feature was certainly of note to those in attendance at the IA show in New Orleans.
“The IA judges recognized the value of these unique Hunter products and the exceptional range of applications for which they are suited,” noted Rex Dixon, president, Irrigation Association. “These entries received widespread attention from IA show attendees when they were showcased on the exhibition floor.”
Hunter’s new controllers provide a practical solution for work on sites lacking direct electrical connections – such as freeway medians and roundabouts. The battery-operated controllers have also been a hit in grower operations (greenhouses and nurseries) and farming applications (vegetable gardens and animal-watering stations).
