CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Aided by equipment produced by Husqvarna, this year’s official holiday tree is on its way to Capitol Hill.
The manufacturing company donated two chain saws used to fell the 70-foot Engelmann Spruce during a cutting ceremony in the Boise National Forest. “The yearly tradition of the Capitol Holiday Tree is a wonderful reminder to the nation of the joyous holiday season,” explained David Zerfoss, president of Husqvarna. “The holiday tree project is an excellent program that Husqvarna is proud to have been affiliated with for the past several years.”
Now the tree is en route from Boise, Idaho, to Washington, D.C. – where it will adorn the Capitol’s lawn throughout the holiday season.
Before reaching the nation’s capitol, the 2003 Capitol Holiday Tree will travel to communities throughout Idaho and then make stops in eight additional communities along the roughly 2,500-mile trip. Upon arrival in Washington, the tree will be the centerpiece of an official lighting ceremony.
