Husqvarna Promotion Reaches New Heights

The industry manufacturer's banner, carried to the top of Mt. McKinley by a Husqvarna employee, served as a symbol of success for a group of climbers who scaled the peak in June.

Husqvarna’s current “Feel The Power” marketing campaign has reached new heights – literally – with the recent unfurling of the company’s promotional banner atop North American’s highest peak.

The industry manufacturer’s banner made it to the summit of Mt. McKinley through the efforts of avid climber John Turner. The veteran mountaineer and Husqvarna product development specialist packed a “Feel The Power” banner up the 20,320-foot mountain in June, posting it at every camp on the way to the top.

Throughout the journey to McKinley’s crest, the Husqvarna banner became a symbol of success for Turner and the other climbers. They looked forward to the banner’s appearance because it represented the successful completion of a strenuous day.

Turner and his group reached the summit June 25 after a two-week trip up the mountain’s rigorous terrain.

Found in Denali National Park, Alaska, Mt. McKinley is considered by the international mountaineering community as one of the seven most difficult summits in the world. Winds of 90 miles per hour and wind chill factors of 90 degrees below zero are not uncommon. Extreme cold, high winds, avalanches, crevasses and high altitude sickness are among the many threats to attempting climbers.

Turner is already pursuing an expedition for next year, researching possible trips to either the Himalayas or the highest peaks in South America. But, whatever the destination, he intends to take the Husqvarna banner – and, symbolically, the company – to new frontiers.
