Product offerings include many "green" options for landscape professionals, including solar-powered hybrid mower.

Husqvarna unveiled more than 80 new products at this year’s GIE+EXPO, including many "green" options for lawn and garden care that create less impact on the environment.

GIE+EXPO, held at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky., included a 20-acre outdoor demonstration area where attendees saw first-hand demonstrations of new products. Indoors, there were 600 exhibitors in the 500,000 square foot space showcasing the latest innovative products in the industry.

On Thursday, Dave Zerfoss, president of Husqvarna Professional Products Inc., gave an overview of the more than 80 new products to be introduced in 2009 and provided an industry outlook for the upcoming year from the manufacturer’s perspective. Zerfoss discussed today’s economic climate and how the key is to “simplify to succeed” for independent dealers.

Top new green products unveiled at the GIE + EXPO included the new Automower Solar Hybrid, a fully robotic mower, plus a new battery-powered cultivator that will help turn soil for gardens and landscaping beds and new push reel mowers, all of which run without the use of gasoline.

Automower Solar Hybrid
Expanding its current fully-robotic lawn mower line, Husqvarna launched the new solar hybrid model in the U.S. Utilizing solar energy to mow more efficiently, the Husqvarna Automower Solar Hybrid is a fully robotic lawn mower partly powered by the sun and uses no fuel or oil. Innovative and groundbreaking technology that combines solar power with electricity powers the new Automower Solar Hybrid, making it both more environmentally responsible and easy to operate.

TB 1000 Battery Cultivator
For homeowners who want to create their own gardens, this new battery operated, cordless, multipurpose Husqvarna TB 1000 cultivator is equipped with a high capacity battery that offers the performance of a gasoline powered engine with a cleaner and quieter experience. This ergonomically-designed cultivator offers homeowners a cost-efficient alternative to gasoline cultivators while offering silent operation and zero emissions.

540 Novolette Push Reel Mower
For homeowners seeking less impact on the environment when mowing, there’s a renewed interest in reel mowers. Husqvarna offers their premium “silent” alternative to mowing, the 540 Novolette. The new model offers easier maneuverability, requires no gas or oil, and has zero emissions with a quieter mowing experience. Homeowners can reduce their carbon footprint with a cost-efficient alternative to lawn care and get healthy exercise while mowing.

Additionally, Husqvarna showcased other outdoor power equipment, including lawn and garden tractors, walk-behind mowers, blowers, trimmers and chain saws that emit up to 60 percent fewer emissions and reduce fuel consumption by up to 20 percent at its outdoor demo area. The demo area included chain saw carving presentations from the renowned group of female chain saw specialists – the “Chain Saw Chicks.”
