Construction of a 40,000-square-foot addition to Excel Industries’ plant in Hesston, Kan., is now under way.
The manufacturer of Hustler Turf Equipment, recently broke ground on the add-on facility that will include a new state-of-the-art paint system.
The addition, intended to accommodate the most advanced paint system in the industry, will give Hustler equipment an improved appearance and increased durability.
“The new addition gives us room to grow,” described Paul Mullet, president of Excel Industries, Inc. “Sales are up over 50 percent this year on top of our 40-percent growth last year. With the new paint line and additional floor space, we will be positioned for continued growth.”
Two-thirds of the new building will be used initially for storing finished goods inside. The addition is designed to function as a production assembly area when additional expansion is necessary.
Completion of the addition is slated for Thanksgiving 2003. Mowers sporting the new paint will begin shipping by the end of the year.
