Industry Certification Announcements

The Irrigation Association and Willamette Landscape Services announce new recipients of the CLIA designation.

IA ANNOUNCES SEVEN NEW CLIAS

GLENDORA, Calif., – The Irrigation Association (IA) is pleased to announce that Mike Brady, Don Clark, Venko Gyokov, Whitney Kew, Shirin Rejali, Richard Truong, and Cindy Vengrow of Rain Bird’s Controls Manufacturing Division in San Diego, Calif., have passed the required IA Certification Examination to become Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditors (CLIA). Auditors collect site data, make maintenance recommendations and perform water audits. Through their analytical work at the site, these irrigation professionals develop irrigation schedules.

To become a CLIA, individuals must attend a course and pass a specialized exam.  The IA began its certification programs in 1983 in order to provide an avenue for qualified irrigation professionals to demonstrate their experience and technical competence within and outside the industry. Certified individuals have made a commitment to professionalism in the industry, subscribing to a Code of Ethics.

Willamette Landscape Services Announces New CLIA on Staff.
Willamette Landscape Services, Willamette, Ore., proudly announced the recent certification of a senior employee. Ryan Sloan, has achieved the designation of Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor.

The Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) designation, administered by The Irrigation Association, is awarded to those who have completed a day and half of classroom training and have shown hands-on proficiency in the auditing of existing irrigation systems. The information covered in the CLIA program is heavily weighted toward the understanding of the hydraulic science behind the operation of irrigation systems, the effective and efficient application of irrigation water, and a thorough understanding of proper system design elements.

“We are extremely proud of Ryan for attaining the CLIA designation his first time through,” said Vice President Matt Triplett. “By becoming certified, Ryan has positioned himself with the rest of the highly qualified supervisory staff at Willamette Landscape Services who are all certified as well – 11 designations for 9 supervisors!  Please join us in congratulating Ryan on this great accomplishment.”
